PATIENT ACCESS – TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE – 5th June 2018

It has been brought to our attention that on-line prescription ordering systems used by this practice are not working correctly and are making it difficult for dispensing patients to continue to use the practice dispensary.

Difficulties using the service may result in patients inadvertently nominating a pharmacy to dispense their prescriptions.

The suppliers of the system are aware of the problem and are working to address them. However, while this process is underway, we have temporarily disabled the online prescription ordering facility and we ask that you either call into the practice to drop your repeat prescription in or phone the dispensary on their direct line in order that they can deal with your request.

This is a national problem and it will have an impact on the dispensary at the practice.

The dispensary is an important part of the services we are able to provide at the practice and without this income the practice will be affected.

Patient Access is available at Plowright Medical Centre.

In order to use this facility, you will need to visit the Practice with a form of photo-id to obtain registration details.  Once registered, you will be able to log on to a website (this will be a direct link to EMIS PATIENT ACCESS and not our own site) and set up your username and password.  Once you are set up, you will be able to use these services either through the shortcut link on our site, or directly to Emis Access.

At present, we have released only GP appointments onto the system for online booking.  You will be able to book up to 2 appointments at any one time and will be able to book up to 28 days in advance.  These appointments will be protected for online booking only up to a minimum of 24 hours before the appointment itself when they will be opened up for general booking by our receptionists.

How do I register?

You can register for Patient Access by firstly visiting your practice in person and requesting a registration letter which will enable you to set up a full account. This needs to be requested when you visit the practice and will require identification. Once you have the letter you can then enter the details from the letter into the registration form. Online patient services

GP system supplier – EMIS Web Healthcare System

 This practice currently offers patients’ facilities to book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online. We also offer patients the facility to order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions for drugs, medicines or appliances.

Assuming correct Identification and completed registration for access is received, Plowright Medical Practice offers patients facilities to view online, export or print summary information from their record, relating to medications, allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the practice and individual patient.  However if patients print out information then it is their responsibility to keep this secure.

We currently publicise and promote all our online services through the practice website, practice waiting room leaflets and Visual Display Unit, posters and Patient Newsletters.

The practice has the right to remove on line access for anyone not using it responsibly.

From April 1st 2016 patients have some access to certain aspects of their medical records via the Detailed Coded Records (DCR) requirement. Additional registration is needed for this access.

GP to GP Record transfers (GP2GP)

The Practice utilises the online GP2GP when a patient registers or de-registers with our surgery. If patients leave Plowright Medical Practice, the electronic medical records will be forwarded to patients GP, any paper records will follow on later.

Referrals

The Practice uses NHS numbers as a means of identification when referrals are made to other care providers.
